ARC Inside:  Smart Grid and Energy Management in Industrial and Commercial Operations

ARC's Asset Performance Management ModelHeld in partnership with ARC, IndConn at ConnectivityWeek connects business executives to the information and technologies they need to meet their growing energy management challenges.   ARC and IndConn will bring together the thought leaders, agencies, and organizations working to deploy the smart grid and energy management solutions to reduce costs, reduce risk, speed project cycles, reduce energy use, and reduce carbon footprint.

IndConn is one of several co-located events at ConnectivityWeek.  This series of events focus on the application of IT to the energy challenges facing the world, challenges as illustrated by climate change and the need for sustainability.

Sustainability for Industrial and Commercial Operations
10:30 AM - 12 PM
Industrial and commercial operations are major consumers of energy and resources.  Yet in most cases practices within these operations have evolved over many years in ways that did not take a broad view of sustainability.  Sustainability for such huge and expensive operations requires an integrated approach to asset management, energy management, and operations management.  This session will show examples of best practices for sustainability and examine some of the available tools and solutions.

Making Energy Dollars Visible
1 - 3 PM
Energy visibility is the first step toward greater energy efficiency and sustainability.  Yet many industrial and commercial facilities struggle with aggregating and analyzing their energy information.  Furthermore, the available data does not easily map to specific activities or processes in the plant.  This situation can be improved by new lower-cost measurements, infrastructure improvements, and thorough intelligent analytics.  This session will present examples of these solutions in practice.

Your Future Relationship with Your Utility:  How the Smart Grid Will Impact You and Your Company
3:30 – 5 PM
At present, most of the media hype about the smart grid has focused on smart meters and residential electric consumers.  What about industrial and large commercial customers?  As the grid becomes smarter, what new opportunities will appear for these high-volume users of electric power?  What steps should they take now to take advantage of the transition to a smarter grid?
