Presenting the Sixteenth Annual ARC World Industry Forum

Transforming Industry through New Processes and Technologies

February 6-9, 2012 - Orlando, Florida

Transform Your Business with Enterprise Mobility Solutions

With today’s accelerating pace of business, companies need an innovative way for employees to be as productive as they can while away from their computer.  Smartphones and tablets are enabling organizations to rethink and improve their business processes from top to bottom throughout the enterprise and across the value network.  In this session you will learn how industry leaders are extending applications to mobile devices, and leveraging real-time data, business intelligence, advanced analytics, decision making, and collaboration tools on smartphones and tablets to drive performance to the next level.

First generation mobility solutions provided access to email and calendars, but more powerful communications and device technologies, combined with mobility systems, now allow real-time connectivity to back end systems so that complete business processes can be executed on the go, using mobile solutions.  Industrial companies are now expanding the use of mobile systems deep into operations.

Mobile Enterprise Application Platform

Real-time mobile applications support EAM, MRO, inventory management, inspections, workforce management, shop floor interactions, facilities management, field service automation, fleet management, sales and marketing, machine-to-machine (M2M), and many other business processes.

Join this program to learn more about mobile solutions.

Mobility Solutions Session
The shift from desktop/Internet computing to mobile Internet computing will transform the way we work and conduct business.  Manufacturers will embrace radical new technologies and change business processes to take advantage of smart mobile devices and the Internet of Things.  Supervisors should be untethered from their desktop computer, and other workers can benefit from ready access to information in the palm of their hands.  In addition, the information they gather is needed by others, but often delayed, muddled, or lost prior to entry into the IT systems when they return to their desks.   With immediate access to information and the ability to provide updates while they are physically at the work, improvements in productivity, accuracy, and compliance occur.  Mobility allows them to stay connected, enter information as part of the normal work processes, and keep the business information current and synchronized.
High quality and timely data going into the systems leads to actionable information coming out.  In this session, each participant should find new approaches to improve their organization’s agility.  The session includes presentations and a panel discussion.
Expand/Collapse Day : Day 3 PM ‎(1)
Remote Operations Management

Secure remote access to automation systems and applications is now a necessity.  An increasing number of process operations are also located in remote and hostile environments, such as the ocean floor or the remote desert.  Historically, because of their proximity, the focus on operating remote industrial facilities has been to maintain steady-state operations despite frequent disturbances, with operators doing whatever was required to keep the facilities running and meet production schedules in a safe and environmentally acceptable way.

Although some remote facilities still operate in this mode, the next-generation of remote facilities will not.  The economics of steady-state operations are being replaced with a dynamic economic environment in which adapting to changing supply and demand are the norm.  This session will discuss the evolution, including both technology advancements and the ability to empower humans.
