Presenting the Sixteenth Annual ARC World Industry Forum

Transforming Industry through New Processes and Technologies

February 6-9, 2012 - Orlando, Florida

Security Solutions for Plants and Infrastructure

Cyber security attacks of various kinds continue to escalate, growing in sophistication and their reach every year.  Even though most of the attacks have been directed at commercial targets (such as banks) and individuals (such as identity theft), we are starting to see a significant increase in the number of attacks on our infrastructure such as ports, oil facilities, and the electric grid.

Protecting our industrial facilities from cyber attacks requires very different types of solutions as compared to protecting our banks.  Industrial facilities typically have different systems (for example, control systems) and risks (for example, loss of lives and environmental impact), requiring a totally different community and security strategies focused on these issues and solutions.  This community has been working for many years, but hackers and technology are moving very fast.  We must continue to invest in existing programs and initiatives, but we also need to identify persistent problems, examine new requirements, and search for new ways to think about more secure solutions.

ARC has invited the Department of Homeland Security to present the latest techniques and solutions to protect our plants and infrastructure.

Agenda
Agenda details for this program are shown below.  Times and sessions are subject to change.

Description
Cyber Security Workshop I: Tools & Solutions Workshop (All Day)

ARC has invited DHS to conduct this workshop.  Part of this workshop is designed to bring all attendees up to speed on the latest cyber security tools and methods.  The target audience is IT senior staff and practitioners.

The training is a fast-paced course covering control systems cyber security challenges.  Training objectives consist of helping participants understand the importance of securing control systems, how attacks against control systems can be launched, and providing mitigation strategies.  Participants will gain an understanding of how to improve the cyber security posture of their control system networks.  Specific topics include:

  • The importance of protecting control systems from cyber attacks and why they are susceptible
  • Understanding the risks and potential consequences of attacks
  • Understanding common vulnerabilities in industrial control systems
  • Discussion of system exposures to attacks, various attack scenarios, and associated mitigation strategies
  • Control Systems Security Program products and services that are available to asset owners
Cyber Security Workshop II: Management
This session is specifically designed for CIOs and Directors of IT or Engineering who are responsible for managing the security of plants and other infrastructure.  The session will provide them the necessary terminology and basic understanding of cyber security for industrial control systems so they may perform their jobs with greater understanding.  This session will also discuss the risk equation to begin building the business case for cyber security of automation systems.  Real-world examples are used to demonstrate sector-specific ramifications and develop a business case for security.
Transforming Industry: Keynote Presentations

Andy Chatha of ARC will discuss the top industry transformational technologies and processes for 2012.

Dianne Chong of Boeing will present some of the new technologies & materials used in 787 Dreamliner and how this plane will enhance our flying experience in the coming years.

Ron Guido of Johnson & Johnson will discuss what companies need to do to improve their supply chain integrity.

Transforming Industry: Executive Panel Discussion
Dr. Leo Christodoulou will tell us some of the initiatives US Government has recently launched to help manufacturing companies improve energy efficiency throughout their supply chain.

After Leo's presentation, the Keynote Speakers will be joined by John Berra and Helmuth Ludwig for the panel discussion.  The main focus of this discussion will be to explore ideas how companies can transform their manufacturing operations through new innovative processes and technologies.
Security and Access Control for Industry

Physical security and access control are an important consideration today in the Internet-enabled industrial world.  Increasingly, government initiatives and tightening of regulations that mandate increases in security for plants, efficiency, and safety are all factors in determining the best strategy for your facility.

This session provides insight into the latest trends and technologies for access control systems in manufacturing plants. Participants will learn about strategies for successful system implementation and optimization.  Since the results of implementing security and access control inevitably have an impact on production systems, this session is designed for leaders in operations-oriented systems.

Industry Transformational Technologies Executive Panel Discussion
This executive panel discussion will focus on top transformational technologies including: Analytics, Cloud, Mobile, Social, and 3D Virtualization.  Join this session to learn how industry leaders are extending applications to mobile devices, using social media and leveraging real-time data, business intelligence, advanced analytics, decision making, and collaboration tools on smartphones and tablets to drive performance to the next level.
